( Sourdough Bread )

I'm going to be posting my favorite recipes every Sunday. I'll have tried the recipe at least once, and most will have notes on how to make them.

I'm making a sourdough bread starter. I have to let it sit on the counter for another 22 hours, then stir it, then let it sit for another 2 days before making bread out of it. I hope it works :)

It realy shouldn't be this hard to find a lemon cake recipe. Of course if I was back home I would have my Mom's multitude of cookbooks to dig through... if she wasn't working until 11 I would phone her up to get a recipe.

So, today I went down to Beacon at 11 for my appointment and found out that I was supposed to be there at 9:30 for the skills workshop. >.< So we went over the results she had from my pretesting. I scored far below average on business. I already knew that ^_^. I scored high on trades like carpentry and hands-on jobs. Second highest was two art categories. i might know where I'm going after all. :)

I also phoned the EI office, mostly because I threatened myself with thinking that I wouldn't get any money if I didn't phone TODAY. So I phone and the recorded woice tells me that I can do it on the internet :S Since I really don't like talking to people I don't know on the phone, I switched over to the net. It was quick and painless, I didn't even have to give the places I'd been looking for work. I have to report in again next Saturday.

I also finished my Bart mascot dude!



I had to fix the Robin cape so it was the right length (a mistake I made by looking at only one reference picture, doh!). You can get it here and the program to use it here.

I'm also changing my journal over to Friend's Only. I've decided that it's sometimes smart to be mildly paranoid, and better to prevent an incident before it happens. I won't be cutting anyone, no worries!

It took me 14 years to learn how to style my hair. My hair turned curly when I was six, and I hated my curls for years. Then I accepted it and learned to appreciate the waves and volume. But it wasn't till this week that I achieved a full head of curls without curlers or a curling iron.

My internet connection is tentatively holding on, I'm hoping that it doesn't get bad enough that it won't connect at all. I can take having to sit in just the right position with my toes crossed, head tilted and tongue held at 30 degrees to the left, but not having internet al all would suck royaly.

As for me, I've been working on a window pet, one of those cute little animations that sit on top of the active open window on your desktop. I'm making one out of my Impulse doll, and it's really cute :3 I'll share it once I have all of the motions worked out and any bugs fixed.

I also cleaned the living room, vacuumed the couch and my chair, and cleaned the kitchen a bit. The living room really needed it. :S Tonight I'm cooking steak maranaded in Maui Rib sauce and potato salad and peas or corn.

I finished my picture in time :D I worked on it all morning and finished it at 3:30. It... looks way better on paper than it does scanned.

Here's the full picture I submitted, with really bad lettering cut off. I had a few inches left at the bottom and I had nothinto go there, so I just wrote 'Impulse'. Too bad I didn't have an Impulse comic to trace, or it would've been alright.

And yes, I drew him without his mask, he's supposed to be that way. :P

I have 23 hours to get my picture down the the library. Me? Procrastinate? Never! :S

edit: Drawing a library is very tedius and repetitive. >.< One of the planned bookshelves is now a bench XD

Out neighbors downstairs are actualy quite nice. She just brought me two pieces of chocolate cake. I think I'm going to invite her for lunch Tim Horton's when I get my paycheque.

Trying not to jinx myself, but I'm drawing something for the Bob Harkin's library's 'Reading is Cool... Graphic Novels are Cooler' (dumb title XD) drawing contest. You have to There's three differnt categories, 0-12, 13-18 and 19+, and the winners, drawn at random, get a $50 prize. All entries are displayed in the library.

I got an entry form a week or so ago, thinking that I might want to draw something down. I had a pretty cool idea for drawing Robin in the Batcave reading, but then I thought who better to draw than Impulse, the kid who read the entire San Fransisco public library? Today I started drawing and on my second sketch drew Impulse lying on his stomach with a book in front of him, nearly perfect. 0_0 So not expecting that to happen. The only problem with that was I drew it on the back of one of my old resumes. Heh. Not to be discouraged, I taped it to the window, carefuly taped a piece of white paper over it and traced/redrew it. I did a ton of little study sketches to get his hair right. His hair is so big, and it's as hard to draw as Kurt's freaking bangs were for me. (I don't think I ever got Kurt's hair right...) I finaly got his hair to acceptable levels of volume (I still think it's a little too flat for Bart) and then re-drew it onto the good copy. I still need to draw some books and bookshelves and maybe some spiderplants for the background.

I really need to scan it once it's done because all entries become property of the library after submission.

In my attempts to not go crazy while I sort shit out, I've been making icons.

I've had these ones for a little while, anyone can take them now if they like. Please give credit!
